Source of Wealth: how to build a dossier that passes

The source-of-wealth dossier is the most important document of the Swiss transfer. What it contains, how it is built, where it goes wrong.

What it really is

A documentary narrative that reconstructs how the client's wealth was formed. Declaring is not enough: every layer (work, business, inheritance, investments, disposals) must be documented.

Standard structure

(1) Biographical and professional background. (2) Chronology of wealth formation. (3) Supporting documents for each phase. (4) Tax compliance certifications. (5) Possible independent audits.

Common mistakes

Dossiers too brief ("I worked 20 years in finance"). Documents without translation. Discrepancies between current wealth and historical flows. Undocumented periods. Unexplained offshore assets.

Languages and apostille

Documents in Chinese, Russian, Arabic, Hindi require apostille and sworn translation. We coordinate the entire process, including for public documents from non-Hague Convention countries.

The right dossier opens doors

A well-built dossier is accepted by 3-5 banks in parallel. An improvised dossier closes them one by one.
